Unfortunately, there are people who actually are different and it amounts to more than the persistent itch of their genital inclincations.

What does surprise me though, is the sheer number of gays, lesbians and bisexuals who opt for being transgender in order to avoid all of the collateral damage to life chances, career prospects and educational opportunities, not to mention personal and intimate relationships. After all, transgender people are not being thrown under the bus in pursuit of Respectability Politics, so it isn't as though their opting for an easier life or anything now, is it?

How much easer it must be, to be transgender rather than being marked by a genital itch and basing your identity around that!
