I just so can't quite get my head around that we are in this terrible state. Roe v Wade is an American legal construction, but I think it impacts other parts of the world, too.
In Europe, we have the retrograde Fidesz Party of Hungary, we have the Nationalist sentiment parties in Poland, we have resurgent nationalism in Austria. Luckily, Marine Le Pen was defeated in France recently, but where I live - the UK - we are witnessing an emergence of a particularly ugly English Nationalism that rose to prominence through the 2016 referendum to leave the European Union trading block.
Things look bleak for all of us, and somehow, the lights are going out all over the world and I seriously don't think they will light up again during our lifetimes.
I do think that those who can, should take pro-active, positive steps to try to protect themselves; but what about those who can't? The type of Republican legislation that the SCOTUS is seeking to implement, is overwhelmingly target at the most marginalised and excluded of the population.
I don't like where this is going.
I wish I knew how to do something to change things.
