For me, this is a lamentation of how we are forced to strangulate a vital part of ourselves just to survive and nothwithstanding societally-imposed self-mutilation we do; we still don't even 'pass'.

Yes, it is still sensed by way to many - even today, they confuse me with being gay because that is the first thing that comes to their minds. If they knew the truth? Then it would be so much worse for me.
